I am going to cut to the chase, I like doughnuts. I am not the only one in this house who does, so it is safe to say we have tried quite a few places in Central Florida. Normally our family day is on Sunday and we get breakfast together. One of our favorite things to do is try new food spots. This blog post is going to list different places we have tried out and my honest review of each place.

Our Favorite Doughnut Places in Central Florida

Donuts To Go – Sanford

1414 W. 1st Street, Sanford, FL 32779

Donuts To Go is always a go to. Not only is it close to home but they have tons of flavor combinations that are just bomb. Delicious. This is a popular spot in town so do not be surprised if there is a line or they are sold out of many flavors by mid morning. One of my favorites is the apple filled doughnut. However, this past weekend I tried the French Toast flavor and it might be my new favorite. There is a riverfront close by that is perfect for walking after going ham at the doughnut shop. Either way, doughnut calories aren’t real calories (iykyk). If doughnuts are not your thing, they have great cinnamon rolls and cronuts as well.

There is seating inside but I am unsure how that is currently working with social distancing. We normally get a dozen to go, so I am not the best resource when it comes to that.

Valkyrie Doughnuts

This is an oldie but a goodie for us, located very close to UCF. We actually started going for these doughnuts when they were selling them inside of Valhalla bakery. Valkyrie was the first specialty doughnut shop we tried and it opened up pandora’s box and began a tradition. The unique thing about Valkyrie is that the doughnuts are vegan. We aren’t vegan however, these are awesome treats for those who are.

My favorite were the fruity pebz and any of their chocolate variations. One thing I will say about these doughnuts is they don’t last very long. I would just order what you are going to eat that day. They stale pretty quickly. Another thing is that these are very filling, they are huge. This shop is fun because they switch up the flavors every week. Follow them on social media so you can see which flavors they are offering.

DG Donuts

16131 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL 34787

DG Donuts is really really good. It actually is one of my favorites but it is so far from our home. Completely worth the drive though. We haven’t been in awhile but the shop itself used to be inside of a gas station. From what I have gathered they also post frequently on Instagram and switch up their menu weekly. Their photos on Instagram are so good – I mean it is hard to mess up a doughnut photo but, still. This was actually Cassidy’s first doughnut experience and let me tell you the girl went in on the doughnut holes.

There is plenty of space to sit down on the inside but I am not sure if they are allowing it with social distancing. We have not been in quite some time. One of the great things is that they do not skimp on the toppings, you get a pretty big doughnut with lots of extras on top. The ingredients always taste fresh.

Duck Donuts

1405 Cornerstone Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32114

The first time we tried Duck Donuts was in North Carolina. This is a franchise, so that sets it apart from the other shops on this list. We have driven to the Kissimmee location however, they put one closer to us in Daytona Beach. My favorite thing about Duck Donuts is that your doughnuts are made to order. That means your order is fresh and hot when it gets handed to you. There is seriously nothing better than that.

They also have great flavor combinations as well and they sell coffee. Two of my favorite things in one place. I will say, the doughnuts are much smaller than the other places on this list.

Cassidy loves going here because they sell tiny rubber ducks and she collects them. She also loves the strawberry icing with rainbow sprinkles. My favorites are the S more’s and the double chocolate.

Are you craving doughnuts yet?

Don’t hate me for ruining your diet. I couldn’t help it. They are all so good and after you try them, you will never waste your money on Dunkin’ Donuts doughnuts again. Which one do you want to try out? Let me know in the comments.

  1. Annnnd now I’m craving donuts. My mom and I love to find the off-the-beaten-path donut shops ranked high by locals when we are on trips. So far, the BEST donuts we have tried were from Canada Donuts in Canada, Minnesota. It’s about 20-30 minutes from Mall of America. So, so good!
